Leek Coach Appeal

With the Churnet Valley Railway's extension into Leek nearing ever closer, it has been acknowledged that the current fleet of passenger carrying vehicles will be insufficient for the expected level of services. To ensure the railway is in good shape for the planned expansion it is desired that the railway has a minimum of two five coach rakes available for passenger services, with an additional four coach dining set.

To play it's part in enhancing the visitor experience, by ensuring there are enough seats for potential visitors during their visit, the NSRC has proposed to assist with the purchase and transport of suitable vehicles to Staffordshire. This requires the acquisition of three Open style coaches, plus an additional brake coach and a coach for conversion to a First Class dining car (RFO) for the dining set. As of December 2020 the NSRC had taken delivery of Second Open (SO) M4366 and Tourist Second Opens (TSO) E3809 and S4046 at a total cost for purchase and transport of a little over £17000, for which we are asking for support in raising funds to cover this necessary expenditure.

This amount will be updated further once we have identified suitable fourth and fifth vehicles.
