NSRC AGM 2021

Summary of the North Staffordshire Railway Company (1978) Ltd Annual General Meeting for 2021

Following the enforced postponement of the Annual General Meeting for 2020 due to COVID restrictions, the North Staffordshire Railway Company (1978) Ltd held their 2021 AGM at Cheddleton Community Centre on Saturday 6th November. The use of this was to utilise the larger capacity of the hall over Froghall tearooms, and ease concerns on space given the ongoing caution following COVID-19.

At the meeting the annual raffle was drawn as usual, which for 2021 was raising funds to purchase specialist maintenance equipment that will help our volunteer departments maintain the infrastructure of the Churnet Valley Railway. Following its completion a final figure of £4809 has been generated, a significant achievement given that tickets were not made available until July.

The five winning tickets are listed below. All winners have been contacted and will be receiving their prizes in 2022.

  1. 13393
  2. 11673
  3. 19139
  4. 16200
  5. 12031

To the board, and Trustee Ken Lupton stepped down after being in post since 2012. This was Ken's second stint on the board having also held a post between 2008 and 2011. Despite his decision not to stand for another 3-year period, Ken will continue to administer the Gift Aid claims on behalf of the NSRC.

Also up for election for a further 3-year period were Trustees John Hulse and Nigel Moorby. They both stood for re-election and were voted on once more.

Trustee Bev Kirkland was formally voted onto the board, having been co-opted in 2020 to help with Youth Development. Due to the cancellation of the 2020 AGM this had been delayed until now.

With a position vacant, NSRC member Emma Haywood was proposed for election to the NSRC Board. This was agreed amongst the members present, and the NSRC would like to welcome its newest Trustee.

Finally the roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary were assigned, with Howard Bould, Geoff Chapman and Aidan Croft remaining in their respective positions.
