Museum & Archives

The North Staffordshire Railway Company (1978) Ltd. has a considerable archive consisting of artefacts, photographs and documents relating to North Staffordshire’s railways and canals.

A small museum has been created in the former living quarters at Cheddleton station and is open on all Churnet Valley Railway operating days. Archives may be viewed by prior appointment.

Education

At the forefront of its aims is the desire to educate members of the public of a railway community, lost in time but remembered fondly by those that were there.

Education is more than just sitting in a classroom and the NSRC embraces this thinking with a variety of activities to discover the history of railways throughout North Staffordshire across the Churnet Valley Railway.

Appeals & Projects

Fundraising

The North Staffordshire Railway Company (1978) Ltd. would not survive without the valuable contributions of its members and supporters.

Few of the near 100,000 visitors who come every year to the Churnet Valley Railway realise the scale of the costs involved to keep a steam railway running. While day-to-day operations are usually covered by ticket sales and the profits from retail, in order to enhance the infrastructure and rolling stock additional funding needs to be sourced.

The Knotty Journal

The Official Journal of the Churnet Valley Railway is produced three times per year and is free to all NSRC members.
